The idea for Swanson Health Center began with a classroom overflowing with sick children. Before she embarked on a career as a nutritionist, Cheri Swanson worked in early childhood education as she continued her medical and nutritional studies. This decision ultimately led her to her true calling and her practice. She found herself constantly fielding a barrage of questions from parents on how to keep their kids well. Often she would stay after school talking with parents on the importance of whole foods and supplements. In the late 1970s the health field was just gaining momentum, and many people were still in the dark about disease and illness prevention. Ultimately Cheri decided to leave teaching and devote herself full time to her passion: guiding people to take charge of their health, to get well – and stay well.

For over thirty years in Orange County, Southern California and nationwide, Cheri has been educating the public on how to regain health and heal illnesses when conventional medicine alone could not. In 2008 her son Alex joined the company and has helped further her vision of making good health accessible to everyone. SHC’s long-standing reputation for excellent personal care and consistent results has made Cheri one of the most well-known and respected nutritionists in Southern California. Our educational model is based on organic foods, supplements and herbs, and involves a farm-to-table approach where the source of the food and how it was grown holds just as much significance as the edible itself. We look forward to serving you and helping you to achieve your health – and healing – goals. Thank you for visiting!

Digestive Health

As Hippocrates said “all diseases begin in the gut.” For many years, we have worked closely with clients who have IBS, IBD, Crohn’s disease, acid reflux, constipation and other digestive disorders, which have increased each decade by alarming rates.

Our clinical approach looks at food allergies, history of antibiotic use, medications, Candida overgrowth and your current diet to provide an accurate understanding of why the disorder is occurring, and how to correct it.

“It has been awhile since we have spoken, so I wanted to give you a quick update.  As of today, it has been FOUR months since I have had one of my stomach/vomiting attack.  This is the longest I have gone without an attack in the over four years since they started.  I am also down to taking only one prescription medication, for my blood pressure.  This time last year I was on 3 to 4 different prescriptions and having the attacks every month. For the first time in four years I am not aware of the condition of my stomach and gut every waking moment, and I am not afraid to plan trips and events because an attack will render me incapacitated. I cannot believe the difference.” -LO

Cancer Prevention and Support

She is widely known among the oncologists in Orange County and has worked closely with doctors at Hoag Hospital. Clients that work with us routinely have higher energy and better immunity during their therapy, and stay with us to help prevent cancer from coming back.

Our approach with cancer is to focus on dietary intervention through foods, herbs and mushrooms that have published evidence of containing anti-cancer and immune enhancing compounds. We are an adjunct to your choice of therapy to increase the probability of a successful outcome. We also deeply understand the stressful and emotional rollercoaster that cancer brings, and are here to provide warm hearts, undivided attention and positive encouragement.
