There are many different types of the herpes virus:
Herpes Simplex Type 1 and 2: Cause of cold sores and genital herpes, and possibly connected to Bell’s Palsy.
Herpes Zoster: Cause of chickenpox and shingles.
Cytomegalovirus: Cause of certain cardiovascular diseases and eye health-issues; dangerous for fetuses, newborns and people with depressed immunity.
Epstein Barr Virus: Cause of mononucleosis.
Type 6 and Type 7: Possible connection to autoimmune health-issues including multiple sclerosis and roseola.
Type 8: Related to the Epstein Barr virus, possible connection to bone cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, Kaposi’s sarcoma and infection of the lymphatic system.
What are the Symptoms?
Symptoms may not always be present. When outbreaks occur, painful, itchy red blisters occur that are highly infectious until they are healed, typically 3 weeks.
What are the Causes?
The virus is highly contagious, and the first attack usually occurs within twenty days of exposure. The herpes virus then lays dormant in the liver. When you become ill, stressed, are having a menstrual cycle, or your body heats up, the virus becomes active.
Diet
Avoid:
Sugar, processed food, white flour, alcohol, coffee, iced teas (herbal is okay) and citrus (during outbreaks). Diets high in sugar and simple carbohydrates affect immune function and can lead to outbreaks.
Consume:
Fresh organic vegetables and fruit, sauerkraut, goat yogurt, goat kefir, Kombucha, chicken, fish, nuts, seeds, millet, buckwheat and oats. Make sure to eat every 3-4 hours to keep your blood sugar level.
Supplementation
A program I have used successfully many times over the years works by taming the virus. When you feel a warm, tingly feeling and know that an outbreak is coming, you can do one of the following programs:
1. VSL #3 Probiotic
Increases immunity and detoxification.
2. Coriolus Versicolor
Coriolus places no metabolic demand on the liver while exhibiting strong immune building qualities by increasing natural killer cell activity. In vitro research showed Coriolus to inactivate a laboratory cultured strain of HSV-1, together with clinically isolated strains of HSV-2, but HSV-1 on it’s own was resistant. 3. Virgin Cod Liver Oil or Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil

70-80 percent of your immune system is in your digestive tract. If you take care of your digestive system by avoiding foods and drinks that lower immunity, while keeping your beneficial bacteria high, your immune system will keep the virus from becoming active.
