I designed this dish for cancer patients looking for a potent cancer fighting meal that also is a comfort food. This can also easily be served as an impressive side dish when having company for dinner.


4 Yukon Gold Potatoes
1 small onion
6 Shiitake Mushrooms
1/2 tsp turmeric
4 cloves garlic minced
Grass-fed butter (Organic Valley Pasture Butter or Gold label Cultured Butter) or olive oil
Salt and Pepper


Cut potatoes into four pieces and add to a steam basket. Steam for 15 minutes or until soft.

Meanwhile, sauté onion until soft in olive oil or butter.

Add turmeric and sprinkle black pepper to activate turmeric.

Once soft, slice shiitake mushrooms and add to onions for a few more minutes until soft. Add more butter or oil if needed.

Add garlic for 1 more minute.

In a bowl, add potatoes and use a mixer or a fork, depending on how you like them. Add butter, salt and pepper until desired taste and texture. On each plate top with onions, mushrooms and garlic.
